The less you know about Bobby Conn, the better you’ll feel. Not that he’s embarrassed about his past - far from it. He’s even printed a copy of his birth certificate inside his album, "Rise Up!" Despite a childhood spent on an endless series of military bases, he’s eagerly rediscovering the Judaic heritage that his parents hid from him and is at peace with his past.

The Midwestern metropolis of Chicago has been Bobby’s home since 1989. There Bobby joined one of the least understood bands of America’s psychedelic underground: the legendary Condeucent. While other better-educated musicians made bland, jangly guitar "rock" with obtuse lyrics, the members of Condeucent stubbornly tried to amuse themselves on stage. Their performances, while often inexplicable from an audience perspective, shifted wildly from noisy entropy to autistic house jam to classic rock theatre. Their behavior on stage and off confused Chicagoans and after a handful of singles the group disbanded, scattering the four across the country. Bobby moved to New Orleans to pursue an unsuccessful marriage. Three years later he returned to Chicago and began his solo career.
