Michael Krassner is the definition of prolific. Drawing on the strength of other musicians, Krassner has slowly built up his reputation in Chicago as producer, director, and musician extraordinaire. He has been involved with the underground Chicago music scene since he moved here from Los Angeles in the mid-'90s.

Gaining stature and recognition from his first project as ensemble director / musician with Boxhead Ensemble, Krassner began forming relationships with a variety of Chicago’s musical stalwarts and hidden gems with which he combined his own talents, to create an amazing body of musical expression. In addition to four Boxhead Ensemble records, Krassner has collaborated on two Lofty Pillars albums and a solo record.

Beyond his own projects, Krassner has produced and engineered for Songs: Ohia, the last three Simon Joyner records, Edith Frost, Mick Turner, Scott Tuma, Tony Conrad, Tren Brothers, Manishevitz, Parker Paul, and Matt Marque.

Whether its leading the subtle improvisation of the Boxhead Ensemble, adding beautiful mystery to Simon Joyner or lending eloquence and stellar songwriting to Lofty Pillars, Krassner has displayed not only great musical proficiency but depth and inventiveness as a producer of music. He is a unique collaborator. He is a creator of beauty and tension. He has vision. He is one of those rare artists who never seems to stop dipping his feet into a pool of posibilities.
